Who is responsible

What we collect
Very little. ChartCompass has no user accounts and no forms. We handle personal information in three situations:
- Email you send us. If you write to us, we keep your address and message so we can reply and keep a record of corrections.
- Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider records technical data for each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used for security and to keep the site working.
- Your cookie choice. Your browser stores one entry that remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies. It stays on your device. See the cookie policy.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal information or share your details with the vendors we review. No analytics or advertising scripts run on the site at present. If that changes, they will load only after you agree in the cookie banner, and this policy will be updated first.
Links to vendors
When you follow a link to a vendor's site, that vendor may learn that you came from ChartCompass. What it does with that information is governed by its own privacy policy, not ours.
How long we keep it
Emails are kept for up to two years and then deleted, unless a correction or dispute needs a longer record. Server logs are kept for the period set by our hosting provider, normally a few weeks.
Your rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and similar provincial laws, you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. You can also withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email us and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
